Trip HDI Explore World Japan

HDI Explore World Japan (Sapporo-Hokkaido)

Day 1 (Jakarta, 2 February 2017)

2 February 2017 was a happy day for several HDI Enterprisers. Why? Well, that’s because some Enterprisers were rewarded with a free trip by HDI for their performance and the tireless hard work they had given.

That day, those Enterprisers met at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to fly to Tokyo on the ANA Airlines.

The HDI Explore World: Japan Journey began.

Day 2 (Tokyo-Hakodate, 3 February 2017)

The next day, the Enterprisers arrived in Tokyo at 7 in the morning. However, their flight didn’t end there. After collecting their baggage, the Enterprisers checked back in for their domestic flight to Hakodate.
Once they arrived in Hakodate, the Enterprisers were welcomed by a lovely pile of snow, along with the -3o temperature that bit into the skin. Today, the Enterprisers spent time visiting the Hakodate Beer Hall for lunch, then they traveled to the Hakodate Motomachi old town area, where the traditional Japanese culture fused with modern European culture. Then they had dinner at the Yakiniku Bancho Hanazono-ten Restaurant, and ended the night at the Hakodate Kokusai Hotel. The first day went swimmingly.

Day 3 (Hakodate-Onuma-Lake Toya, 4 February 2017)

The next day after breakfast at the hotel, the Enterprisers headed off to the Hakodate Morning Market. At this traditional market, the Enterprisers could purchase fresh seafood and fruits.

Satisfied with their shopping, they continued their journey to the Goryokaku Tower. This place is the highlight of the phenomenal Goryokaku Fortress. As the first Western-style fortress in Japan which is designed in a star-shape, the fortress successfully aroused the Enterprisers’ curiosity. Not only its star shape, the fortress was also surrounded by a moat which added to the beauty of the fortress. This guarantee of architectural wonder is what was enjoyed by the Enterprisers at the Goryokaku Tower.

After visiting the Goryokaku Tower and having lunch at the Friendly Bear restaurant, the Enterprisers’ activities continued. This time, they basked in the festivities of the Onuma Hakodate Snow and Ice Festivals, Hakodate’s biggest winter festival. This is an annual event which featured unique ice sculptures. The highlight of this event is the giant ice structure made from the frozen water of the lake, which was handmade into a skating area.

From there, the Enterprisers went back to visit the Onuma Park, a park that was named a national park with a total area of 9.083 hectares. Here, the Enterprisers took non-stop photos with the Oshima-Komagatake Mountain, Onuma Lake, and the beautiful Konuma Lake as the background.

This day came to a close at the Nonokaze Resort, a quaint resort with a direct view from the room to the Nonokaze lake, complete with an onsen facility (traditional Japanese hot bath).

A tiring day, but very exciting!

Day 4 (Lake Toya-Noboribetsu-Sapporo, 5 February 2017)

In the morning, the Enterprisers took off to Mount Showa (Bear Park), a sanctuary and breeding ground for Hokkaido bears. Here, the Enterprisers could witness the cuteness of the Hokkaido bears.

Afterwards, the Enterprisers were invited to board the cable car to Mount Showa. Here, the Enterprisers indulged in the lovely scenery of Mount Showa, and had lunch at the Kamameshi Yoshidaya Showashinzan. Then, they headed to the Noboribetsu Hell Valley, a valley famous for its hot springs.

Satisfied with their time there, the Enterprisers were invited to continued their journey towards the Tanukikoji Street, a popular shopping center in Sapporo. There, they had a dinner of large crabs at the Pescard Restaurant Sapporo, and stayed at the La’gent Stay Sapporo Hotel.

Day 5 (Sapporo, 6 February 2017)

On this day, the Enterprisers went to the Odori Park, which hosted the 2017 Sapporo Snow Festival. This festival is one of Japan’s most popular winter events, where many unique and exciting snow sculptures were displayed for everyone to see. After having a great time at the 2017 Sapporo Snow Festival, the Enterprisers moved on to the Okurayama Sky Jump, were they were able to enjoy the city of Sapporo from a height of 307 meters above sea level.

After enjoying the scenic beauty of Sapporo, the Enterprisers traveled to the Otaru Canal, where their journey for the day concluded with a dinner at the Sapporo Beer Garden. Here, they enjoyed the deliciousness of Sapporo lamb to their heart’s content.

Day 6 (Sapporo-Haneda-Tokyo, 7 February 2017)

Today, the Enterprisers were taken to the Shiroi Koibito Factory, a factory that produced gifts specific to Hokkaido that had to be brought back to Indonesia. More than just a place to make sweets and desserts, this factory also functions as a garden and museum. In addition to its wide array of flowers and toys in its gardens, the Enterprisers were also able to see their collection of toys, musical instruments, posters, and other art objects.

After their visit to the factory, the Enterprisers continued their journey to the ANA Crown Plaza Hotel for an opulent lunch, then headed to the airport to return to Tokyo.

Day 7 (Tokyo-Jakarta, 8 February 2017)

Suddenly, the last day of the trip was upon them. This morning, the Enterprisers packed and prepared to return to the motherland. At the end of the trip, they didn’t forget to thank HDI for preparing such an exciting, satisfying and memorable trip for them. SAYONARA!
